Her fingers move
Weaving tales through the air
Each gesture blooms with feminine charm
Mudras
Eyes
She casts her glance
Navrasas spring to life
Each flicker stirs my weary soul
Bhava
Rhythm
Her body moves
In sync with laya and taal
Every sway a flowing rhapsody
Abhinaya
Today's poem, the seventh in my 2025 campaign of the A to Z Blogging Challenge, celebrates Pranjali Sharma. Unfortunately, I do not know much about her. I only know that she is based in the Ambala Cantonment area and teaches dance.
Although I am not a dancer myself and do not understand its nuances and technicalities (had to do a lot of reading to learn about the main elements), I am a big fan of Pranjali's sitting pose style Kathak performances. Her expressions are always on point, and it is always a delight to watch her in action.
I believe her performances have influcned a lot of other women to try out Kathak. A few of my own friends and acquaintances have been following her work for some time now.
Her Instagram URL is Groove with Pranjali

I just read your post on "Grace in Motion: Abhinaya," and it truly resonated with me. Your exploration of Abhinaya as the soul of Indian classical dance beautifully captures its essence. The way you describe the dancer's ability to convey deep emotions and stories through expressions and movements is captivating. It reminded me of a Bharatanatyam performance I attended, where the dancer's Abhinaya left the audience spellbound. Your insights into the nuances of this art form have deepened my appreciation for the dedication and skill involved. I particularly enjoyed your analysis of how Abhinaya transcends mere physical movement, becoming a profound language of its own. Your writing has inspired me to explore more performances and learn about the stories they tell.
ReplyDeleteThese classical dance forms, even in their more modern fusion forms, have their own unique appeal and charm.
